Battambong A relaxing Getaway

Situation in the northwestern Cambodia and founded in the 11th century, Battambong, capital city of Battambong province, is now known for being the leading rice-producing province of the country.

It is set up along the Songke River and presence of some of the best preserved French colonial architecture creates a similar town at mosphere comparable to this found in southern Kampot.

Recently the dining options in & around town have became varied with anything from wwstern over pizza and Chinese to khmer, fine dining, steak and BBQ on the menus.

Battambang provides excellent opportunity for small tours and is a great base to leave on longerday trips to Pailin town (84km) and to explore the northwestern Cadarmom Mountains and Thai border area..

Most popular among tourists and local are visit to the hill temple of Phnom Sampov, relaxing around Kamping Puoy lake and exp,oring Wat Banan and other Angkorain temples in the vicinity.

For the more adventurous and fit traveler, kayaking is on offer and mountain bike trips can be arranged. Ask around in the questhouse in town to find out how to book these activities.

When i  the town try not to miss out on a show by the Phare Ponleu Selpak circus troupes, 1.5km out of two. An amazing project for street children that books international succes.
